Learning to Lead in Even Bell Methods

A learner’s progression onto even bell methods can be hampered by too much previous reliance upon a cover bell. However we have a programme of exercises to help with leading. We start off with the learner leading in rounds on three bells, and then we introduce a fourth bell. After suitable explanation the learner then leads continuously on the treble while 2,3 and 4 ring plain hunt on three bells. Extend this by adding one more bell at a time until the learner can “front cover” to any Doubles. Leading in Minor isn’t a problem after that.
